Boys’ basketball: Chatsworth will win City title

Here’s my easiest and most confident prediction for the upcoming boys’ basketball season: Chatsworth will win the City Section Division III championship.

The Chancellors are in the West Valley League with Woodland Hills Taft but they are in Division III and are getting back several players who were hurt last season when the team went 15-13.

Derrick Hector, a point guard who was all-league as a sophomore, missed all but two games last season. Jason Monje, a 6-foot-5 forward, broke his hand in the first league game last season. He’ll be a four-year starter.

Frankie Flores, a 5-10 guard, is a two-time all-leaguer.

So beware of the Chancellors in Division III this season.
