Football: Santa Margarita mourning loss

Vince Pattee, an assistant football coach at Santa Margarita who handled the kickers and also served as equipment manager, died Wednesday, Coach Harry Welch said. He had suffered from heart problems.

‘Our whole community is just devastated,’ Welch said.

The schools plans to honor Pattee at Friday’s playoff game against Mission Viejo.
