Another turnover has led to another score for Escalon.

Brandon Shaw caught a 42-yard touchdown pass from Gino Franceschetti, catching the ball along the right sideline at midfield, turning inside and escaping tackles on his way to the end zone.

Escalon has built a 23-7 advantage with 12 seconds left in the first half of the Division III state bowl game at Home Depot Center.

The Cougars are clearly more comfortable on the wet field better than San Diego Madison and it’ll be interesting to see if a trend develops as the day progresses. Teams from Northern California are more accustomed to playing in the rain. That doesn’t bode well for Gardena Serra or Anaheim Servite later.
