Two technicals in the third quarter called on Palisades hurt the Dolphins’ momentum against top-seeded Taft, and the Toreadors came out of the quarter with a 56-45 lead.

Palisades’ lack of experience in semifinal games came through with 5:18 left in the quarter. The Dolphins were assessed a technical for an assistant coach standing up. Then Malcolm Creer picked up a technical six seconds later after a foul. Palisades’ momentum disappeared, and the Dolphins went from an eight-point deficit to trailing, 50-34.

Let me say the technicals were pretty weak calls but teams have to adjust to the environment, and Palisades didn’t. Tyler Duke contributed six points off the bench for the Dolphins.
