Boys’ basketball: Loyola has commanding lead

If this were a championship fight, the referee would step in and stop it. In high school basketball, however, a winner is not determined until at least the minimum 32 minutes are played.

It’s been all Los Angeles Loyola so far in the Southern Section Division 1A championship game at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Joe Stein‘s uncontested layup in transition has given the Cubs a 31-14 lead over Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley with 3:47 left in the second quarter. Loyola is getting layups. The Cougars, on the other hand, can’t get a shot to fall.
