Baseball: JSerra improves to 17-3 with Trinity League win

Trinity League play resumed on Monday, and San Juan Capistrano JSerra came away with a 13-8 victory over Santa Margarita.

The Lions (17-3, 6-2) got four RBIs from Nico Darras and three hits from Hayden Cornwell. Josh Meyer led Santa Margarita with three hits.

Santa Ana Mater Dei (16-4, 7-1) stayed in first place with a 9-4 win over Orange Lutheran. Sophomore Jeremy Martinez hit two home runs and finished with six RBIs. St. John Bosco defeated Servite, 5-2. Rene Medina threw a complete game.

In San Diego, Granada Hills Kennedy (19-3) defeated Palisades, 4-2, in nine innings. Ryan Cruz struck out seven in eight innings. Woodland Hills El Camino Real defeated Granite Hills, 7-6. Chris Nicholson and Mason Novak had three hits apiece. Reseda Cleveland was beaten by Santa Fe Christian, 12-4.

No. 1-ranked Huntington Beach Edison defeated Otay Ranch, 7-2. Jake Lesinski hit a home run. A.J. Libunao had two doubles and four RBIs.

In Las Vegas, Birmingham was beaten by Las Vegas, 8-7. Jerry Zaragoza homered for the Patriots.

Palos Verdes defeated Encino Crespi, 6-2. Tesoro defeated Villa Park, 6-5. Braden Peters hit a two-run home run and Kris Paulino added another two-run home run. Tanner Donnels went three for three.

Walker Moses went three for three to lead Sherman Oaks Notre Dame past San Juan Hills, 7-4. Evan Ocello went four for four as Oaks Christian defeated Oak Park, 14-1.
