Baseball: Angel Rodriguez comes through for Chatsworth

Senior Angel Rodriguez threw a three-hitter and struck out nine to lift Chatsworth to a 4-0 victory over Woodland Hills El Camino Real in a battle for first place in the West Valley League.
Chatsworh (16-5, 6-1) took a one-game lead over El Camino Real (15-12, 5-2) entering a second game on Friday at El Camino Real.
The Chancellors scored two unearned runs in the first inning, then added two more in the sixth to inflict a rare defeat on El Camino Real ace Jose Cardona.
Reseda Cleveland defeated Woodland Hills Taft, 4-3, on an RBI single by G. Allen in the bottom of the seventh after a triple by Max Spiegel. Alex Sawleson had two-out, two-strike home run to tie the game in the seventh for Taft.
Birmingham defeated Granada Hills, 7-1. Kevin Torres struck out nine.
In the East Valley League, Arleta defeated North Hollywood, 14-6. Andres Coll, Miguel Perez, Javy Lopez and Ivan Ceja hit home runs. In the Valley Mission League, San Fernando defeated Reseda, 14-0.
