In defeat, Birmingham earned respect from Chatsworth, fans and others on Wednesday while losing, 4-1, in the City Section Division I semifinals.

Kevin Torres was working on a one-hitter through four innings and had a 1-0 lead until hitting three consecutive batters to start the fifth. Chatsworth would go on to score two runs in the inning and add two more in the sixth.

Afterward, Chatsworth Coach Tom Meusborn praised Torres, and Torres was classy, too, saluting his teammates.
