Despite missing two top receivers, Long Beach Poly won the Dana Hills seven-on-seven passing tournament on Saturday, defeating Santa Ana Mater Dei, 21-14, in the championship game. Los Alamitos and Huntington Beach Edison reached the Final Four.

Josiah Blandin, one of three Poly receivers who have committed to Arizona State, had a busy day catching passes from quarterback Chaiyse Hales.

Mater Dei’s new quarterback, junior Ryan McMahon, was impressive considering he has just started practicing football after starting in left field for the baseball team.

In the Pierce College tournament, Mission Hills Alemany defeated Ventura St. Bonaventure, 32-21, in the final. Receiver-defensive back Jerico Richardson was the Warriors’ top player besides quarterback Devon Dunn. Alemany defeated Culver City and Canyon Country Canyon to reach the final. Jordan Farris was a standout receiver for St. Bonaventure.

Moorpark went 5-0 in its own tournament. Ventura Buena won the lineman competition.
