Santa Ana Mater Dei went 3-0 in the morning session of the Edison seven-on-sevenn tournament Saturday, including a close victory over Corona Centennial. The host Chargers were also 3-0 in the pool play. Tesoro pulled off the biggest upset with a win over Long Beach Poly.

New quarterback Ryan McMahon was performing well for the Monarchs, and receiver Thomas Duarte made a one-handed catch in the end zone to help Mater Dei defeat Centennial.

Oaks Christian played without quarterback Luke Falk, who had to sit out because of elbow problems.
