Boys’ basketball: 37-point showing for Muir’s Jelani Mitchell

Jelani Mitchell of Pasadena Muir contributed 37 points in a 76-75 overtime victory over Arcadia in a Pacific League opener for both schools.
Muir improved to 12-1 overall.
La Verne Lutheran routed Montclair, 74-45. Montclair came in with a 13-0 record. Grant Jerrell scored 25 points, had 14 rebounds and five blocks. He also made four three-pointers.
Brentwood (10-2) defeated Chadwick, 77-53. Yonathan Napoleon scored 19 points, making five three-pointers. Leland King had 16 points and 12 rebounds.
In the Huntington Park tournament, L.A. University defeated Chatsworth, 61-55, rallying from a 13-point deficit. Breamon Richard made six three-pointers and finished with 26 points.
