Football: St. Paul adds Mater Dei to its schedule

First-year Coach Elijah Asante of St. Paul is trying to use the same strategy he had at Carson _ play an unbelievably tough nonleague schedule and hope it prepares his players for league play.

Asante said Friday he has added a road game against Santa Ana Mater Dei in week one for the 2012 season, joining games against La Mirada, La Habra, Bishop Amat and Servite.

‘This is what gets people excited about your school,’ Asante said.
