Boys’ basketball: The Crespi-Notre Dame rivalry is still alive

Encino Crespi came into its Mission League game against neighborhood rival Sherman Oaks Notre Dame on Tuesday ranked No. 4 by The Times and boasting a 17-1 record and 4-0 mark in the Mission League. Notre Dame was 9-8 and 0-3 in league play.

So guess what happened? The game went down to the final buzzer. Michael Milligan Jr. of Crespi put in a rebound basket as the buzzer sounded to enable Crespi to escape with a 58-56 victory.

Kennedy Edwards of Notre Dame made a three-pointer to tie the game with eight seconds left.

Milligan finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds. London Perrantes had 14 points. Edwards led Notre Dame with 15 points.

No. 3-ranked Etiwanda defeated Los Osos, 58-28. Jordan McLaughlin scored 18 points. Etiwanda is 18-1 overall and 3-0 in the Baseline League.
