Boys’ basketball: Mater Dei, St. John Bosco set up showdown game

First place in the Trinity League will be decided Friday night when Santa Ana Mater Dei travels to Bellflower St. John Bosco. The two schools each won on Wednesday.

Mater Dei defeated Santa Margarita, 82-36. Katin Reinhardt scored 21 points and Xavier Brown had 15 points and 13 rebounds. St. John Bosco defeated JSerra, 72-68. Isaac Hamilton scored 26 points and Kameron Murrell 15 points. Jamal Aytes led JSerra with 25 points.

La Verne Damien defeated Ayala, 55-50, to improve to 19-1 and 5-0 in the Sierra League. Junior guard Jared Dizon had 17 points and freshman guard Jeremy Hemsley had 11.

In the Alpha League, Windward defeated Sierra Canyon, 67-66. In the battle for first place in the Camino Real League, St. Bernard defeated Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 72-67. Jose Estrada scored 31 points for Cantwell. Brandon Randolph scored 20 points for St. Bernard.

In the San Gabriel League, Compton Dominguez defeated Paramount, 77-53. TJ Traylor scored 19 points.

In the Pacific League, Muir (20-1, 9-0) defeated Burbank, 54-52. Jelani Mitchell scored 17 points.

In the Marmonte League, Westlake defeated Newbury Park, 51-41. Grant Lozoya scored 17 points.
