Corona Santiago Coach John Perez needs to go buy a lottery ticket with his luck, because his teams in girls’ basketball and softball haven’t lost in months.

His softball team won its final 20 games of 2011 and took the Southern Section Division 1 championship on a walk-off home run. It won its first two games this season on Saturday by scores of 10-0 and 16-2.

Then the Perez-coached girls’ basketball team beat Troy in a Southern Section Division 1AA quarterfinal playoff game to improve to 30-0.

Perez-coached teams haven’t suffered a defeat of any kind since March 31, 2011.

Santiago faces its biggest basketball challenge of the season on Tuesday in the semifinals against Santa Ana Mater Dei at the Anaheim Convention Center.
