La Puente Bishop Amat used a balanced attack and scored 16 points off turnovers to upset Oak Park, 44-30, and capture the Southern Section Division 3A title at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Sophomore guard Paulina Santana paced the third-seeded Lancers (21-11) with 14 points, Dagmar Ramirez had 10 points, Kaysee Tayag had nine points and Leeah Powell added five points and nine rebounds.

The top-seeded Eagles (21-9) outscored their opponents 12-3 in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late. Senior guard Kelsey Haines had 20 points, Sarah Bucknovitz had seven points and Courtney Wing had three.

Bishop Amat held Oak Park to three points in the second quarter on its way to a 25-13 halftime lead. The Lancers lost to Inglewood in the 3AA semifinals in 2009-10 and to Bonita in the 3A semifinals last season.
