Junior Khalfani Muhammad of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, one of the top sprinters in the state, is set to make his season debut on Saturday at the Eagle Invite at Santa Margarita.

Coach Joe McNab said he hopes Muhammad is ready to run 100 meters in the 10.7 range. Muhammad finished second in the state last season.

McNab has produced two state 100-meter champions in Justin Fargas and Rodney Glass. Muhammad, who has football scholarship offers from UCLA, Washington and Arkansas, among others, could join the list.

Notre Dame also is excited to take a look this week at freshman Owen Manning. He’s a basketball player trying track. His father, Antonio, was a top sprinter for USC in the 1980s.
