Baseball: Valencia knocks off No. 1 Harvard-Westlake

Valencia didn’t care much about the reputation of left-hander Max Fried of Harvard-Westlake. The Vikings pounded Fried for eight runs and 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings en route to an 11-4 victory over the No. 1-ranked Wolverines.
AJ Balta had four hits and six RBIs. Trey Williams had a home run. Valencia and Harvard-Westlake finish the Easton tournament with 4-1 records.
West Ranch defeated Alemany, 4-3. Freshman Jagger Rusconi and Justin Hovis had two hits apiece. Tony Slauson got the save with three innings of relief. Both schools are 4-1.
Riverside North (5-0) won the Redlands tournament with a 3-0 win over Temescal Canyon. Jack Johnson threw a complete game, striking out nine.
Nathaniel Patton had the game-winning RBI in Tesoro’s 2-1, 10-inning win over Esperanza. Mira Costa defeated Long Beach Wilson, 4-3. Cristian Salia had three doubles in Capistrano Valley’s 6-1 win over Corona Santiago. Mater Dei defeated Gahr, 14-3.
St. John Bosco (6-0) defeated Peninsula, 3-1, behind Rene Medina, the quarterback for the football team. He threw a complete-game four-hitter. Mission Viejo defeated Troy, 6-0. Kieran Lovegrove struck out 12 in six innings. Paul Fritz hit a three-run home run.
Sophomore Alonzo Garcia struck out 10 and allowed two hits in San Fernando’s 10-1 win over Taft. Chaminade outlasted El Camino Real, 6-5, in 11 innings. Darren Kriz and Jimmy Jauregui had four hits
apiece for Chaminade. Jauregui had the game-winning RBI. Chatsworth defeated St. Francis, 15-1. Chris DeVito went four for five with two doubles. Riley Conlan had three hits. Oxnard Pacifica defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 4-0. Burbank defeated Hart, 7-0. Hector Rodriguez had three hits and Andrew Hernandez threw a complete game.
Golden Valley defeated Knight, 8-3. Josh Balducci had three hits. Sierra Canyon defeated Leuzinger, 17-1. Freshman Brock Bell went four for four with three RBIs. Santa Monica defeated Kennedy, 4-3, despite three hits from Chris Mallon.
Oaks Christian defeated Crespi, 4-2. Chris Pann had a three-run double. Brandon Evans went two for two. Palisades defeated Verdugo Hills, 2-1. Sam Wasserman hit a home run for the Dolphins. Jason Barnett of Palisades and Gabe Guerra of Verdugo Hills each allowed three hits.
Saugus defeated Westlake, 14-4. Simi Valley defeated Burroughs, 3-2. Newbury Park defeated Loyola, 3-0. Luke Eubank struck out 11 and walked two.
Narbonne defeated North Torrance, 7-5. Isaac Padilla, Jeysen Delgado and Omar Avila each had two hits. Brody Fehmel got a game-winning RBI in the bottom of the sixth in Agoura’s 3-2 win over Cleveland. Agoura trailed, 2-0. Palm Desert defeated Foothill, 4-3. Jono Tellier struck out 10 for the second game in a row.
