Section Section Division 2 in baseball is looking as strong as Division 1, and one team on the rise is Redlands, which is 11-1 after a successful Arizona trip.
Junior pitcher Angel Landazuri, on varsity since he was a freshman, struck out 13 against Arizona Notre Dame Prep.
Second baseman Brian Ruhm leads the state with 22 RBIs. Catcher Jacob Nottingham, a junior committed to Oklahoma, caught fire at the plate in Arizona.
And senior pitcher Matt Johnston is 3-0.
Coach Estevan Valencia said of Landazuri (3-0), ‘What makes him tough is he has command of all four of his pitches.’
Redlands is ranked No. 2 in Division 2, behind No. 1 Alemany and above No. 3 Harvard-Westlake.
