Boys’ basketball: Grant Jerrett is the Gatorade state player of the year

Grant Jerrett, a 6-foot-10 senior at La Verne Lutheran, has been named the Gatorade state player of the year in boys’ basketball.
Jerrett, a McDonald’s All-American who signed with Arizona, averaged 22.3 points, 10 rebounds and 2.4 blocks a game for the Trojans (25-8).
He joins recent players of the year Ryan Anderson (Long Beach Poly), Allen Crabbe (Price), Michael Snaer (Rancho Verde) and Jrue Holiday (Campbell Hall).
