Baseball: Chaminade upsets No. 2 Alemany, 5-3

West Hills Chaminade has shaken up the Mission League race by knocking off No. 2-ranked Mission Hills Alemany, 5-3, behind a complete-game performance from junior pitcher Kevin Victoria.

Matt Willmore contributed a couple key RBIs for the Eagles (5-5, 2-2). Alemany dropped to 8-2-1 and 2-1-1. Andy Frakes pitched Crespi past Loyola, 3-2. He threw a three-hitter, striking out five and walking one.

David Olmedo-Barrera came through with a one-out bases loaded single in the bottom of the seventh to give St. Francis a 2-1 Mission League win over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Notre Dame’s Payton Milone had tied the game with an RBI single. Will Larkin pitched well for St. Francis.

West Ranch took over sole possession of first place in the Foothill League with a 3-1 win over Hart. JC Cloney allowed two hits and struck out nine. Freshman Jagger Rusconi had three hits. Cloney and Josh Heinz added two apiece. Canyon defeated Golden Valley, 3-2. Saugus defeated Valencia, 9-3. Chris Devery had three RBIs.

Woodland Hills Taft defeated Calabasas, 3-1. Jake Hardy scattered four hits in a complete-game performance. In 14 innings, he has allowed one run. Taft improved to 7-4 going into West Valley League play next week.

El Toro improved to 10-1 and 2-0 in the South Coast League with a 3-0 victory over Dana Hills. Chasen Ford threw the shutout and Mitch Tolman had two doubles.c Tesoro (9-2-1, 3-0) defeated San Clemente, 8-0, behind Evan Cook, who improved to 4-0 by throwing a five-hitter. Kevin Co had three hits, including two triples.

No. 1-ranked Riverside North (10-0) stayed unbeaten with a 4-3 win over Corona Roosevelt. Gabrial Franca had two doubles and picked up his sixth save.

Max Fried struck out 14 in five innings of Harvard-Westlake’s 9-3 win over Lancaster. In the second game, Harvard-Westlake won, 7-3. Jack Flaherty had two hits and picked up the pitching victory.

James Kaprielian improved his career record to 24-2, throwing six innings in Beckman’s 11-3 win over Northwood. Zack Rivera was three for three and had a three-run home run. Garret Brown raised his average to .489 with two hits.

Bishop Amat defeated La Salle, 6-2. In Arizona, Moorpark was beaten by Arizona Boulder Creek, 4-2. Austin Cole had two hits. Travis Hardy struck out nine in five innings in Grace Brethren’s 14-1 win over Kilpatrick.

Gabrielino defeated South El Monte, 3-2, in nine innings. Vinnie Albelo threw 103 pitches for the win. Last week, in a 15-inning win over El Monte, Angel Acosta struck out 18 in nine innings. Gabrielino also had an eight-inning win on Wednesday over Mountain View.

Redlands (12-1) defeated Fontana, 5-2. Angel Landazuri threw a five-hitter, striking out 12. In the Moore League, Lakewood defeated Long Beach Poly, 6-2.
