Boys’ basketball: Alemany leads after first quarter

Mission Hills Alemany is hustling all over the court and second effort is what has the Warriors ahead of San Francisco Sacred Heart Cathedral 17-15 through one quarter of play in the CIF state Division III final.

Max Guercy has six points and fellow senior guard Marqueze Coleman has five for Alemany. The Warriors have shown no indication of being tense or nervous, despite playing in their first state finals game.

Senior wing Joshua Fox has six points to pace the Fightin’ Irish, who are making their third state finals appearance. They won in 2009.
