It’s not looking good for San Luis Obispo Mission Prep.

The Royals trail Stockton Brookside Christian 60-45 after three quarters in today’s CIF state Division V final at Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento.

Ariana Vaughn’s buzzer-beating jumper capped a dominant eight minutes for the Knights, who are forcing numerous turnovers that have led to easy baskets.

Mission Prep’s standout senior point guard Jenna Dunbar, who had 31 points and seven assists against San Pedro Rolling Hills Prep in the Southern California Regional finals, has just six points against a tenacious Knights defense.

This is the Royals’ seventh trip to the state finals and their first since falling to Ross Branson in 2008. Barring a tremendous rally, though, they will not claim their first title.
