Baseball: L.A. Cathedral knocks off Mayfair

L.A. Cathedral, a Division 5 team, defeated Lakewood Mayfair from Division 2, 3-1, on Saturday in a St. Paul tournament game.

Freshman Willie Aguilar went three for four with two RBIS. Sophomore Julian Perez and freshman Bryan Duenas combined on a two-hitter.

Cathedral is 11-4. Mayfair dropped to 12-2.

Simi Valley defeated Placentia Valencia, 8-0. Reece Schmidt and Dylan Alexander each had three hits.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame got key triple from Payton Milone to rally for a 5-4 win over Redondo. Loyola defeated Redondo, 9-1. Quinn Brodey, Angelo Armenta and Jack Welsh each had three hits.

Crescenta Valley defeated Eastern New Jersey, 9-8, on a walk-off single by Kyle Murray in the eighth. Ted Boeke had a grand slam and double. El Camino Real lost to Torrance, 7-1.
