Track & Field: Notre Dame 4x100 relay is state leader

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame continues to rack up points at the Mt. SAC Relays.

The Knights’ boys 4x100 team of Nick Holland, Eric McDaniel, Koa Farmer and Khalfani Muhammad took over the state lead, clocking 41.45 seconds to outrun eight other schools in the Invitational race. Oxnard Rio Mesa was second in 41.62 and Long Beach Poly finished in 41.94 to clip Temecula Great Oak by one hundredth of a second in the seeded division.

The win earned Notre Dame 20 points and increased its lead in the boys team competition to 22 points over second-place Los Angeles Loyola.

Long Beach Poly won the girls Invitational 4x100 event in 46.64, holding off a late surge by Gardena Serra. The Jackrabbits increased their lead in the girls team competition to 30 points over Studio City Harvard-Westlake.

Corona Roosevelt won the girls seeded division in 47.18 and Temecula Great Oak (47.80) was second.
