Track: Scorching 800 for La Sierra’s Edgar Cobian

The Southern Section Division 1 track and field prelims on Saturday at Trabuco Hills featured a scorching time in the 800 meters by Edgar Cobian of Riverside La Sierra. He qualified first in 1:52.60.
Vista Murrieta football standout Corey Whitaker was first in the shot put at 61-0. Luis Gutierrez of Rancho Cucamonga had the fastest time in the 1,600 in 4:11.70. Arcadia’s Sergio Gonzalez ran the 3,200 in 9:13.70. Glendale’s Michael Davis had the fastest 100 in 10.67.
Long Beach Poly dominated the girls’ competition. Traci Hicks ran the 100 in 11.73.
