Football: Alemany defeats Crespi in seven on seven final

The first seven on seven passing competition of the summer was Saturday at L.A. Valley College, and Mission Hills Alemany went unbeaten on the day to come away with the championship, beating rival Encino Crespi in overtime in the championship game.

Receivers Steven Mitchell, Desean Holmes and Devin Ross were the primary targets for quarterback Devon Dunn. Brandon Boyd also played well at strong safety.

Alemany defeated Orange Lutheran in the semifinals. Slot back Adam Connette and sophomore to be tight end-defensive end Kyle Penniston (6-3, 230) were standouts for the Lancers.

Crespi defeated St. Francis in the semifinals. Crespi relied on quarterback Cody Cordell, receivers Aaron Lacombe and Ray Davison and defensive backs Tyler Foreman and Jabrian Blackwell.

La Salle defeated Granada Hills to win the small school division of the tournament.

Birmingham won the lineman competition behind 6-3, 240-pound Christopher Belfond, 6-2, 275-pound Terrance Knighten and 6-1, 290-pound Alx Manu.
