Never before in Scott Muckey’s 25 years as coach at Encino Crespi has he had so many players who will be competing in the College World Series in Omaha.

‘I’m very excited,’ Muckey said.

If Oregon knocks off Kent State on Monday night, there will be six ex-Crespi players on rosters, though Scott Heineman of Oregon is injured and out for the season.

Ryon Healy of Oregon has been hitting the ball well in the playoffs. Tyler Johnson of Stony Brook is 12-1. Josh Mason and Michael Hubbard are also playing for Stony Brook.

Kevin Williams of UCLA is back from knee surgery and should see action at second base. UCLA plays Stony Brook in its opener.

It’s going to be a mini-Crespi reunion in Omaha.

‘Eg, eg,’ as Muckey would say when he greets players.

And there’s going to be a smaller reunion of ex-Bishop Amat players. David Berg pitches for UCLA and Brandon McNitt pitches for Stony Brook.
