Memorial service for Gene Vollnogle is set for Oct. 13 at Carson

A memorial service to celebrate the life of football coach Gene Vollnogle will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, from noon until 3 p.m. in the quad area at Carson High School.

Vollnogle, who won 10 City Section championships while coaching at Carson and Banning, died last week. He was 81.

There will be food, music and speeches honoring Vollnogle, one of the most successful coaches in City Section history.

‘It’s what Dad wanted,’ Vollnogle’s daughter, Teri, said.
