The season started with Newhall Hart having two quarterbacks, sophomore Brady White and junior Connor Wingenroth, last year’s starter.

But Wingenroth, a former Hart ball boy, has done what the team needed him most to do _ switch to running back.

Last week, he rushed for 154 yards in seven carries and scored four touchdowns against Bakersfield Ridgeview.

‘He told me he’d do anything for the team,’ Coach Mike Herrington said. ‘He likes to play quarterback but does a good job playing running back. He’s trying to do what’s best for the team.’

Hart (2-1), ranked No. 2 in the Northern Division, plays Birmingham on Friday at College of the Canyons.
