Gardena Serra has defeated Edison 27-10 and will advance to the CIF state Division II bowl game against Oakdale at Home Depot Center in Carson.

The Cavaliers (13-2) used their speed to outscore Edison 20-0 in the second half on the way to securing their third state bowl berth in four seasons. Jalen Greene gave Serra its first lead on a four-yard draw early in the third quarter and Malachi Mageo returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown to clinch the victory with 11:38 left.

Edison (13-2) controlled the ball for almost 19 minutes in the first half and led 10-7, but the Chargers were unable to sustain drives in the last two quarters and allowed more points than they have all year.

‘They were a very disciplined team, but we weren’t going to be denied,’ Serra receiver Adoree Jackson said. ‘We have athletes all over the field and from the start of the second half we dominated.’
