Boys’ basketball: Loyola takes over first place in Mission League

Loyola made 14 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull out a 53-46 victory over Encino Crespi and take over first place in the Mission League.

Andrew Johnson scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds. Max Hazzard had 10 points. Thomas Welsh contributed some key blocks on defense. The Celts made just four of 26 shots from three-point range. London Perrantes was held to 14 points but became the school’s all-time scoring leader.

Chaminade defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 71-51. Jack Williams had 16 points and Griffin Cohen 14. St. Francis knocked off Harvard-Westlake, 65-55. Sophomore Kyle Leufroy scored 25 points.

In the Ocean League, Beverly Hills upset Santa Monica, 52-50, on a three-pointer at the buzzer by Brandon Neman. Ben Cohen and Siavash Yektafar had big games for Beverly Hills.

In the Alpha League, Brentwood rallied for an 83-78 overtime win over Campbell Hall. Leland King scored 38 points and Tra Holder 20. Kahlil Simplis had 30 points for Campbell Hall.

In the Marmonte League, Westlake defeated Newbury Park, 61-47. Grant Lozoya scored 26 points. Calabasas defeated Moorpark, 72-53. Jeremy Lieberman scored 27 points. Royal defeated Agoura, 46-32. Max McCoy finished with 12 points and Scott Woods had 11 points and 13 rebounds. Thousand Oaks defeated Simi Valley, 77-25. Tanner Fanjoy had 17 points.

In the Bay League, Redondo defeated West Torrance, 62-40. Derek Biale had 18 points. In the Del Rey League, Bishop Montgomery stayed unbeaten with an 84-55 win over La Salle. OG Miljkovic had 21 points, Lamond Murray Jr. and Stephen Thompson 18 apiece.

In the Baseline League, Etiwanda defeated Alta Loma, 67-22. Kenny Barnes had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Rancho Cucamonga defeated Los Osos, 76-74. Victor Joseph scored 26 points.

Chino Hills defeated Claremont, 81-70. Bishop Mency scored 17 points. Oak Park defeated St. Bonaventure, 66-40. Ron Lee Jr. scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds. Oaks Christian defeated Santa Clara, 60-41. Jackson Miller had 16 points. St. Anthony defeated Salesian, 88-39. Brian Wright finished with 19 points and Eric Cooper 18.

In the South Coast League, Mission Viejo defeated Aliso Niguel, 71-40. Evan Zeller returned from an ankle injury to score eight points. Max Redfield and Sage Stone each had 13 points.

In the Foothill League, Lewis Stallworth scored 28 points in Hart’s 75-50 win over Golden Valley.

In the Nike Extravaganza, 7-foot-5 center Mamadou Ndiaye had 34 points and 26 rebounds in Brethren Christian’s 50-34 win over Servite. Mater Dei defeated Eisenhower, 78-63.
