According to documents filed with the Interstate Commerce Commission, Ingram paid $81 million to acquire Ohio Barge Lines and Mon-Valley Transportation from U.S. Steel Corp. They will become part of Ingram Barge, a subsidiary of the Nashville, Tenn.-based company. The purchase will double the size of the subsidiary. A spokesman for U.S. Steel said the decision to sell the two barge lines was part of U.S. Steel’s effort to divest itself of real estate, coal and timber properties after buying Marathon Oil.
