Robert A. Day, Ex-Fire, Harbor Panel Chief, Dies

Robert Addison Day, former president of both the Los Angeles Fire and Harbor commissions, died Sunday of a heart attack in his Bel-Air home. He was 69.

A retired vice president and director of Superior Oil Co., Day was named to the Fire Commission in 1954 and was president in 1959-60. He left that agency in 1963 and went to the Harbor Commission in 1967, serving until 1969.

A funeral service will be held today at 10 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Brentwood, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.

His survivors include his wife, Natalie; four sons, Robert, Anthony, Matthew and Theodore; two daughters, Ninette and Tammis; four grandchildren, and a brother, Herbert Godfrey Day.
