Gardena Free Clinic to Expand
The South Bay Free Clinic’s Gardena Boulevard clinic will expand operations as a result of a $60,833 grant from Los Angeles’ Community Development Department.
According to Gary Bess, the clinic’s executive director, the grant will allow the clinic to hire a part-time physician, nurse practitioner and additional support staff at the clinic at 742 W. Gardena Blvd.
This grant is in addition to $107,170 given by Los Angeles County in September to allow the clinic to retire its mortgage and add three examination rooms. Construction on that project will begin in March.
Bess said the free clinic, which also operates at 1807 Manhattan Beach Blvd., received $20,000 as a result of its Patrons Program Reception last month.
