NEW DELHI —
Forty-five workers at a textile mill in southern India were hospitalized after a leak of toxic chlorine gas, authorities reported Saturday.
Labor Minister K. Sivadasan of Kerala state said the leak occurred Friday in the dyeing section of the factory in Koratty, 270 miles southwest of Madras. He said the 45 stricken workers were out of danger.
Employees of the privately owned factory’s dyeing department went on strike Saturday, demanding adequate safety measures.
