EECO Inc., a Santa Ana computer equipment manufacturer, has completed its purchase of Maxi-Switch Co. of Minneapolis about two years ahead of schedule, EECO said Wednesday.

Under the original purchase agreement signed last March, Maxi-Switch shareholders were initially paid $3.4 million in cash and promised a deferred sum in 1987, possibly as much as $1.6 million, based on company’s performance.

However, EECO said that it completely repaid Maxi-Switch shareholders Jan. 1. Burgess Dempster, EECO’s chairman, declined to reveal the final payment other than to say that it was less than $1.6 million. Dempster said the stepped-up repayment schedule reflected Maxi-Switch’s rapid growth and its anticipated sales increases.

In a related announcement, Dempster said Craig Stout has been named chief executive officer of Maxi-Switch, in addition to his present position as president. Craig Stout replaces his father and Maxi-Switch founder, Glenn Stout, who stepped down because of poor health. Irvine based-Fluor Corp.’s Houston engineering division has been awarded a contract to increase the capacity of a Phillips Petroleum Co. chemical plant in Texas. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

Phillips contracted with Fluor to revamp its Houston Chemical Complex, a division of Phillips Chemical Co., in Pasadena, Texas.

The plant makes polypropylene, a smooth, waxy plastic derived from petroleum. Plant capacity will increase from about 250 million to 420 million pounds a year when the project is completed at the end of 1985, Fluor officials said Wednesday.

Fluor is an engineering, construction and natural resources management company.
