U.S., Soviets May Meet on Trade

MOSCOW —
Soviet and U.S. trade ministers may meet in the near future for their first talks on improving bilateral trade since Moscow’s 1979 intervention in Afghanistan, a senior U.S. official said today.
Undersecretary of Commerce Lionel Olmer told reporters at the end of three days of talks in Moscow that such a meeting had not yet been set but added: “It does seem to me that there is reason for optimism.”
