People : Dr. Smith New President of Family Physicians’ Organization

Dr. S. Clarke Smithcq, chief of staff at Martin Luther Hospital Medical Center in Anaheim, has been installed as president of the Orange County chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He succeeds Dr. Richard K. Kammerman, of Santa Ana. Finishing first is nothing new for Margaret R. Anderson, of Huntington Beach, who recently took the oath of office as a judge of the North Orange County Municipal Court. Anderson, 51, was elected to the bench last year. She earned her law degree in 1977 from Western State University, Fullerton, where she finished first in a class of 500. Stanton Police Sgt. Michael K. Caballero, 35, has been chosen 1984 Officer of the Year, Police Chief Robert Eason said. A native of Fullerton, Caballero entered police work at age 21 as a deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. After serving in the Army, he joined the Stanton police in 1977, moved to Newport Beach in 1979 and returned to Stanton in 1980. He was promoted to sergeant in March, 1984. The police department also chose Mike Numainville cqas its Explorer of the Year, Lyle Hanson cqas Reserve Officer of the Year and Karen Sewell as Employee of the Year. The new commanding officer of the Grandpaw Pettibone squadron of the Assn. of Naval Aviation is Raymond H. W. Pett, of Santa Ana. The squadron, named for a character in the magazine Naval Aviation News, consists of retired, active and reserve Navy and Marine Corps aviators. It has been meeting monthly since 1970, and in 1975, it became the first West Coast unit of the Assn. of Naval Aviation, founded that year at the Pensacola (Fla.) Naval Air Station.
