Oceanside

Plans to reconstruct the runway at Oceanside Municipal Airport took a step forward this week when the City Council allocated $17,000 in capital improvement funds for the project. The remaining money for the reconstruction will come from the state Department of Transportation, which has awarded Oceanside a $160,000 grant for the project. City officials said the deteriorating runway badly needs replacement, and that a large section of the strip has settled and must be raised. The council took the action at its meeting Wednesday.
