Mediator Scheduled in Burbank School Talks
Burbank teachers and school district officials have agreed to meet for a third time with a state mediator in an effort to break a stalemate in contract negotiations that have been under way since last August.
Representatives from the school district and the Burbank Teachers Assn. will meet with mediator Bill Drohan on Jan. 24, Assistant Supt. Michael R. Slater said Tuesday. The two sides, which agreed to call in a mediator in October, met with Drohan on Nov. 29 and Dec. 10.
The district and teachers have been unable to agree on salaries and nine other issues up for renegotiation following the first year of a three-year contract.
