A spring start is scheduled for a $7-million addition to and remodeling of the administration building at the base of the control tower at Los Angeles International Airport.

New construction will account for about 50,000 square feet of office space and 16,000 square feet of existing space will be remodeled, according to Fumio Konishi, project architect for Albert C. Martin & Associates, the architect.

Completion is expected before February, 1986, on a design that will see the existing exterior skin replaced with an aluminum and glass facade to match the new facilities. The addition will consolidate Department of Airports administrative activities at the airport.
