Ethiopia Rebels Claim to Have Captured Town

NAIROBI, Kenya —
The rebel Tigre People’s Liberation Front said Sunday that its forces have captured the town of Debark in Ethiopia’s Gondar region.
Clandestine rebel radio, monitored here in Nairobi, said Debark was captured Jan. 8 but gave no other details. The rebel forces are fighting for autonomy of Ethiopia’s northern Tigre province.
