ROME — Tourists spent $7.8 billion in Italy in 1984, up 7% from $7.3 billion in 1983, the National Federation of Tourist Offices reported.
The federation predicted that earnings from tourism would be $8.6 billion next year, based on the belief that reduced inflation would make this Mediterranean nation more attractive to foreign vacationers.
