Britain is setting up a new civil defense unit with 12 anti-aircraft guns captured from Argentine forces in the 1982 war over Falkland Islands.

The Defense Ministry said Monday that the Swiss-made Oerlikon guns, once turned on British Harrier jump-jets, will now become part of Britain’s air defenses guarding the east coast. They will equip a 110-man auxiliary unit to be formed in April at Waddington air base in Lincolnshire.
