China to Introduce Competition in Tourism

China plans to introduce competition to the state-run tourism monopoly as part of the Communist Party's economic reform program, a top tourism official said.

"This will happen naturally, increasing step by step," National Tourism Administration Director Han Kehua said. He did not explain how the industry will be changed to accomodate competition or when the changes will start.
