Officer Walt Hampton, a seven-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, has been selected as the West Los Angeles Officer of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 1984.

Hampton organized private security guards in the underground parking structures at Century City. Their efforts, combined with those of other Westside officers, resulted in the arrest of a man suspected of committing 100 to 150 car burglaries, according to Los Angeles police.

During the 1984 Olympics, Hampton was one of a select group of officers trained and assigned to a special Departmental Anti-Terrorist Counter-Assault Team.
