UCLA Researcher Given Cancer Grant

The American Cancer Society has given a $26,620 grant to Jerome Cohen, associate dean of the UCLA School of Social Welfare, for a study of the psychosocial consequences of cancer.

In collaboration with Swedish researchers, Cohen will interview cancer patients and their families in Gothenburg, Sweden, and compare data to similar cases in California.

The study will look at repercussions of cancer on victims and their families, including depression, work problems and disruption of family life.
