Peru Airport Fumigated to Combat Meningitis

LIMA, Peru —
Doctors wearing gas masks fumigated the international section of the Lima airport Monday after two policemen there contracted meningitis, health authorities said.
They closed the terminal for nine hours and ordered international flights to land at the domestic flights section. Meningitis, considered a highly contagious disease, causes inflammation of the spinal cord and brain.
