South Africa consumer prices rose at an annual rate of 13.3% in December, unchanged from November, the Central Statistical Services said.

The 13.3% increase was the highest annual inflation rate recorded in nearly two years, the government agency said.

South African economists predict a sharp depreciation in the rand against most other currencies will contribute to pushing South African inflation to about 15% before mid-1985.
